Dreams Do Come True
Dieunette had a dream—an impossible dream. She wanted to become a nurse and help people with their health problems.
Dieunette grew up in Cap-Haitien, and like most families in Haiti, her family was very poor. They had no money for school fees. When her father died, the situation became even more desperate for Dieunette’s mother and her five children. Sending them to school was out of the question.
Then a sponsor in the U.S. made it possible for her to go to school. At school she learned about God and his plan of salvation. She committed her life to Jesus and eagerly took part in all of the church activities. A diligent student, she finished elementary school, middle school and high school with excellent grades.
On the recommendation of her pastor, a sponsor paid her way through nurses training at Cap-Haitien’s Roi Henri University, and she began her studies in October 2007.
She met her sponsors for the first time in January 2009, while helping to conduct a health clinic in Bayonnais. It was love at first sight for all three! When they met again the following year, her sponsors presented her with a wedding dress and veil for her upcoming marriage to a fine Christian man. The wedding took place in December 2010, shortly after her graduation from nursing school..
Thanks to her sponsors, Dieunette's dream has come true. She is trained and ready to serve the people of Haiti with her nursing skills and help them to achieve more healthy lives.
